Mafalda Teixeira de Sampayo is a Portuguese architect living and working in Lisbon, Portugal. Besides the degree of Architecture by Faculdade de Arquitectura da Universidade Técnica de Lisboa, she holds a MSc in Urban Design on the topic of “An Urban Model of Muslim Tradition in Portuguese Cities”, and was awarded the a Ph.D. in Architecture and Urbanism on the topic of “The Urban Form in the Aftermath of Lisbon’s downtown 1755 earthquake destruction: analysis of the 1756-1786 cartography). She has received several prizes and honours during her career, including EUROPAN 6 with a project for the rehabilitation of 74ac in Setubal, Portugal.
She is presently a Professor at the Lisbon University Institute (ISCTE-IUL) researching the theme of Urban Morphology of Public Space. Her main research interests include Architecture, History, Medieval Studies and Urban Studies. She can be reached on her emails mgts@iscte.pt
